IoMCumbria Meshtastic

Richard in the IoM has been experimenting with a few different antennas and I now get a very strong signal from him in St Bees using my 5 ele yagi.

He’ll be moving stuff around but to open this up a bit there is a channel set up for IoM & Cumbria (called IoMCumbria funnily enough)

Use the QR code below to join that channel and look out for nodes IMGT and IMGJ as these tend to be the strongest to me

Just open up the phone app, scan the QR code and let yourself in

That’s the station I was picking on the island Alex. It was IMGT

Where is the channel , Alex? is it on the mesh app ?

That’s Richard Inthe IoM.

Scan the qr code with the Meshtastic app on your phone. It should add a channel and that’s where it starts

Cheers Alex

What’s your node name @Richard? I’ll let the other Richard in the IoM know so he can look out for it

I can’t see the qr code scanner in the mesh app ? there’s a code appears on one screen Says LongFast “edit” with a code underneath .
I’ve never used a qr code before so admittedly I don’t know what I’m doing
The node is xgo_home

Press the scan button

Who’d ever have thought you could scroll off the visible content on the screen to reveal a button that said “scan”? My screen now looks like yours except it says LongFast above the IOM one
Thanks again !!

Seeing a lot of chitchat on the open channel now , and direct messaging with another station a couple of “hops” away.
Lot of nodes in the list now and the map is populating with stations from EI, Lancs IOM and Cumbria . Mine’s not connected to wifi .

Yeah Richard I seen that last night. I was busy building a bridge between Meshtastics and Telegram. Got it half working 1 way and gave up for the night lol. So my aim was, I keep missing the messages on meshtastics. Bridging them over to Telegram (a mobile app) I would be able to answer more.

If you have a smart phone you can download Telegram and add the cumbriaCQ Group

I think there was a bit of lift the other day as well Lee, so was picking a lot more up .

You should do now Richard. Euan in Barrow, Richard in IoM and I have been tweaking with stuff so there’s a decent connection between all of us. I can see that is how you connect in.

Not that there is, we’ve all increased the hop count to 5 so there’s more to be gained from having a router (which is in the IoM). So a good antenna and a reasonable take off should get the IoM (but probably not me directly)

Yeah the map is populating rapidly now Alex.
