I guess it looks and operates in a similar way. I can see why its done but there’s a bigger chance that these end up competing for the same smaller user group.

Yeah it does but apparently works much better. Plus the install on to my T Deck went smooth. Thats the first time ive ever got a GUI working on that T deck. Meshtastic was just a green load of text.

Nobody seems to use mesh for messaging ? I’ve just seen the list of nodes detected getting longer and never see anything on the long fast channel except the odd “testing” message which nobody replies to if you respond , even though the system seems to say the message was received somewhere ?
I’ve just set the meshcore up on my V3 it seems to work , but no body seems to be on round here . Maybe these things are more use in more urban areas ?
Hi Richard I think Dean is setting one of his up on Meshcore. I need to look into it.
they all rely on users Richard. Meshcore probably won’t interact with Meshtastic. So you’ll choose between the 2 and my guess is that unless they interoperate then meshtastic will win. There is a far bigger user base for that software.
I can’t see how it’ll be better. it is exactly the same RF method, just different software.
I tried it for a couple of days Alex . There was absolutely nothing on it within range of me any way . I reverted back to meshtastic . picked up a station on the IOM yesterday and one from Ireland when there was a lift the other day.

I guess that’s the problem Richard. Lots of competing software implementations of the same spectrum keying method is no good for anyone.
Imagine a slightly different version of FM. It would do your nut in.
Living here, there are fewer people involved with this stuff so it’s unlikely you’ll find like minded people. Hence, follow the crowd.
Just out of curiosity, are you still receiving the IoM. Those nodes connect us with GI & EI as well as Barrow and Lancashire
I’ve not had anything from it for a day now Alex. I suspect it was a bit of ducting because I got on from EI as well and it said 3 hops ?
