Managed to do an activation from Ripon wetlands N Yorks’ on the way down here to Nottinghamshire , first time it had been activated .
Today I went out early to a bunker about five miles from where we are staying .I stayed on 40m as the calls were coming steadily for the duration of the time I had spare . 50+ contacts in all with a lot of strong signals coming from Belgium and the Netherlands .
The bunker was just the other side of the dyke from where I was parked in the lane . The surface structures were still there .
Gear was the G90 ( 20w)
I used the home made EFHW today with a compact surface mounted 49:1 transformer made a while ago by Nathan G5KCI . Warm down here today , about 17C .
