Called in at the Royal Observer Corps bunker Kirby Hill just North of Boroughbridge North Yorks on the way home the other day to do a BOTA activation .
Got parked fairly close to the structure which as you can see from the pictures is in a pretty good state . Sited very close to the road and easily viewed through a gap in the dyke .
Set up a xeigu G90 and EFHW antenna up the side road next to it a couple of hundred yds away and operated from the car .
BOTA is very well supported and got a lot of contacts from all over the UK Netherlands and Belgium on 40m.

Thats awsome Richard. Should of gone for a ratch inside. Would.of been good puctures inside too. Wish i would of.known id of worked you. Great pictures
It would be interesting to see inside , but would probably need to OK it with somebody as this one is right on the edge of farm land next to a busy road , the dyke has a big gap in it where the bunker is for whatever reason . I can imagine some of these things might not be structurally sound having been abandonned for decades ? or rats have managed to find a way in to set up camp !
