GB3DG Is Connected to CumbriaCQ

We’re pleased to confirm that Richard MM1BHO is currently hosting a remote RF node at his QTH using equipment supplied by us.

The setup consists of:

• Motorola GM340

• Raspberry Pi 3

• Custom interface cable

• RF link from CumbriaCQ into GB3DG

GB3DG is located in Dumfries & Galloway, South West Scotland, providing excellent coverage across the surrounding region.

We have been granted a 3-month trial by Raynet who own the repeater – many thanks to them for the opportunity.

What This Means

Linking GB3DG into the CumbriaCQ.com network significantly expands coverage.

Stations accessing GB3DG over RF in South West Scotland can now be heard across the wider CumbriaCQ network, which connects multiple nodes, RF gateways, and internet-linked systems.

Likewise, stations on the CumbriaCQ network can be heard via GB3DG’s RF footprint — increasing reach, resilience, and general activity across both areas.

This creates:

• Wider geographical coverage
• Greater inter-regional communication
• Improved network resilience
• More opportunities for operators to make contacts

Current Status

The link is operational but we are addressing a few minor teething issues:

• Audio can be slightly noisy / crackly
• Currently FM only
• Repeater IDENT audio is passing across the wider network (this is being addressed)
• TX power was unintentionally left set low (0.5W) and will be corrected shortly

These adjustments should significantly improve overall audio quality and stability.

This is a trial period, so please bear with us while we fine-tune levels and settings. Audio and signal reports are very welcome via the CumbriaCQ network.
