So the antenna is up!

Finally got the Diamond X50 on the chimney this weekend. Been trying to figure things out now its proper radio time. I have the FTM500 i got off of Lee set to 20w. So far here’s my experience:

I put an audio test out on FM on GB3MX and Lee couldnt work out who i was and i was very very quiet. my audio receive to GB3MX is also quite scratchy and not clear.

I switched over to GB3CU on 438.387 and had much more luck on recieve with clear audio coming through

I chirped in last night to the lads doing some IT tech support and talking about isopods (good crack M7BUY) and apparently my audio was clear so that was good.

Today i saw Lee was out on mobile on FM in whitehaven so tried speaking through GB3CU not on Digital but FM and was apparently very quiet. at this point Lee was also starting to break up and fade out however. Lee mentioned i test out 145.550 which i put out an audio test there and got a reply back from a gentleman who said my audio was fine - i didnt catch his callsign

Further testing is required!

Hi Nicky. im back at home now if you want to try simplex give me a shout on calling channel 145.500

might have had FM Bandwidth on Narrow. moved it to high and set gain to max from high. will need to test it again later on, but i need to start work in a few. thanks for the contact Lee.

FM should be Narrow. Moving the gain will of worked. :slight_smile:
