It looks a bit complicated at first but click on the drop downs and all will start to become clear. Set the region to CAX - Carlisle, Cumbria, GB.

Then send a flood / public message and see if after a min or two it appears on the screen as if by magic, you may even see any replies that your not getting

Reinventing the wheel yet again

Just found that Meshcore already had the answer … flash a v3 on 433 (for my in town mesh) and a v3 on 886 (for the world at large) using the ‘Bridge’ nightly builds, I think its working

The 433 companion should cause the 433 repeater to talk to the 433 esp now and then onto the 868 esp now and onto the main 868 yagi …. kinda

If it works then I can reduce everything to maybe just 2 repeaters and 1 companion

In contrast, the 868 MHz band is also available for SRD use in the UK, but it is more commonly used and less congested than 433 MHz in practice, making it a preferred choice for many applications. Nonetheless, 433 MHz remains a legally recognized and usable frequency in the UK for compliant devices..

In short its legal but kinda useless for unlicensed usage, but in Dumfries using more db it works better for filling in the holes

Yeah havent seen you. wonder which repeaters gone down..

It doesn’t say …. so I’ve been just messing about until something seems to work, of course the 886 bridge side of things is our normal settings, the esp now seems to take care of its self via the little coil antenna on the board (as the 443 and 886 bridges are next to each other I’m not bothered about installing 2.4g antennas)

Ive been thinking about a potential meshcore problem as the network grows ever larger. That is messages colliding and therefore not getting through. I imagine this will be a much larger issue through critical repeaters in busy areas. I don’t know if meshcore has provisions for queueing messages that arrive at the same or similar times and is smart enough to stop this happening.

I wonder if we’ll see dual channel radios or dual radio repeaters reccomended as the project gets bigger. not a send and recieve frequency, but a main and redundancy to stop messages overwriting one another. a bit like signaling on a trainline.

either this, or its going to need to have some sort of per-hop handshake on messages sending and arriving whihc would congest the network.

V4 repeater to a mag mount on car roof…. 19 contacts added and some messages received
