Hows all the meshcore projects going?

Installed MeshcoreOS onto the t deck and paid for the unlock code.

Apart from the map screen being a bit basic and not as colourful its a very nice firmware and has positives over the ripple.

Nothing to do with firmware…but the t deck dosent like my fat fingers,

its still busy, shame the link from carlisle to west seems to be really iffy at present

loads more nodes going up. one up on skiddaw now try aim yours to that

Hi everyone, thought id update you all.

Following my recent promotion at work, I’ve had to temporarily move back to Norfolk to train my new team for a month or two at the ambulance station as doing it via conference calls wasn’t working for everyone.

Once I’m back home I’ll get my nodes up and running again.

welcome back Dani

Dent doesn’t seem to show on map on meshcore.co.uk

some things of note i spotted today:

nodes in IOM (on the wrong frequency) Anyone able to set a spare node up to LongRange and make contact to get them on the right frequency?

and the node in barrow is on UK Narrow anyone heard from them?:

Latest from the tower of power 'ish

So far Yagi is at 9m above ground (28 asl) with an easy possibility of another 3m

The eagle eyed may spot that I’m using a 2 pulleys which makes the weight easier to manage (2 pulleys = 1/2 the load)

As soon as I can be bothered I’ll replace the V4 with a modified one, over the last few days been getting loads and loads of ‘contacts’ but looking at analyzer.letsmesh.net/packets I can see that I’m missing quite a few ‘direct’ replies and public / test messages, which may in fact be a bonus  haven’t worked out the % of missing / not arrived but the replacement V4 should help.

That’s it for today 73 to all.

i really like that tower! have you got it screwd into the wall ? how much was it where can u get all that from

Amazon, search for toptower classic (different heights and accessories are available)

The vertical beams are attached to the wall and the tower is strapped to the beams at various distances, the top one being the most important.

Over in #norniron we’re picking a lot of you up pretty well. The coastal repeaters are showing up on our wardriving map, we see MCC Barnholm quite reliably, and pretty far inland: bhd.meshmapper.net

thats really good isnt it. we have a permanent link to your side.

Well the ongoing rain has stopped any progress outdoors, delaying a repositioning of Thunderbird 2 and swapping the board of Thunderbird 3 ….

But the devil makes work for idle hands, lol

  1. Got a Heltec V4 expansion .. works ok, but the touch screen sometimes it do, and sometimes it don’t.
  2. Installed Zorin (linux) as a dual boot to Win 10 but a couple of things I wanted to add / alter wouldn’t work which annoyed me, so I uninstalled it and installed Mint instead which I’ve just about finished tinkering with. (strange issue in using the Meshcore flasher, it wouldn’t connect, but a simple line in terminal fixed it.)

Thats all my news

I have a friend who’s just moved to the Isle Of Man. he’s in the south of the Island but ive been selling him on the idea of getting set up with Meshcore.

Do any of the MCC lads want to consider getting a rock node set up and we try get it posted out and set up on the top of Snaefell?

also, it looks like the node in Ramsey has switched over to UK Narrow.

morning all , im new to the group “and a techno dinosaur so be gentle with me  “ im just outside annan looking across the solway to carlisle ,the m6 corridor (i can get into gb3rp at skelmersdale ok on 2m)across to the lakeland fells and hills and then out past west of cumbria ,the IOM, to crifell and a way up to the north up the m74 toward moffat so generally a decent take off for signals  ive also a selection of stearable 70cm yagi’s able to point most directions should they help .Anyone fancy the challenge of helping to stear me through setting up something with meshcore TIA :crossed_fingers:
ps: remember the bit about being a techno dinosaur  oh and im physically challenged as well (read minds willing but bodys not very able  :face_with_peeking_eye: )

Hi 2M0ETJ, welcome to the group.

Lora / Meshcore is a funny old animal what with it being at twice the frequency of 70cm and is very much more line of sight. (I did my own experiments on 470’ish MHZ and the range / propagation was great, but as no one was using that frequency its was a kinda dum idea) So the frequency will have to be 868Mhz and none of your existing gear will be any good.

However given your location you should have great access to all the boys / girls in Cumbria maybe with a decent dipole or a small yagi at the worst, there are big hills between you and me (in Dumfries) but using the Cumbria repeaters we should be able to say hello.

Advice .. dont buy anything yet without asking 1st… there are loads of peeps (me, lol) that have plenty of spare kit for you to experiment on a ‘suck it and see’ basis

thanks for the reply dave .have we met ? .
it wouldnt be a major issue with another ant (might even be luckier “ive 13 up at the moment :face_with_peeking_eye: :face_with_peeking_eye: “) it was just reading about the 70cm’s it would have been convenient as theres a choice of 4 .im a qrp sort of a guy anyway and tinker with wisper etc “just to see whats possible ” .its a mine field when i start looking at whats there to start with ,any recomendations are greatly appreciated on which way to go !, i like messing anyway so what i start with will more likely be different to where i end up .im technologically (and pysically) challenged more so at the moment as im advised not to drive at the moment as well :face_with_peeking_eye: one issue is now im grounded ive more time to experiment and get myself in trouble  .
