I wired up a Meshcore Repeater lastnight and had a QSO with a lad in Workington. Picking up 3 Repeaters and a few nodes. Ive never had a RF QSO with anyone on Meshtastics.
Works very well on my T-Deck Too
Firmware works on all current Meshtastics hardware !! Worth a shot.
I would recommend setting up one node as a repeater on a decent antenna, then make another node for client access i.e from your mobile phone.
Yep, me too. I fully anticipate that due to the surrounding hills / distance I may have to change the supplied repeater antenna for a yagi pointed in your general direction… butttttttt we will see. O’h and went to Maryport for a few days whilst you were away, and there wasn’t a gale blowing
Yeah a yagi may be needed see how you go. Ah cool did you have a good time in maryport ? Great the wind wasn’t blowing haha. You should get that kit fairly fast. Im not sure you will get batteries with it though I think they are extra
Had a great time, rediscovered the dark stuff (Guinness) .. don’t need any 18650’s I have loads of part worn ones, lol (all I have to do is remember where I stashed them) 73 Dave
I get a 100% link to IoM on Meshtastic but this works for me, but others will struggle to get my node because it’s the wrong side of the hill for you lot.
When things are going well I get 200km on Meshtastic. I’d expect the same with Meshcore. There’s nothing magic about one or the other.just 100mW of LoRa at best
Yeah ive not got a single RF contact on meshtastics but meshcore i have. There’s a couple.of lads with decent links up on the hills. Here’s some screenshots
Repeater arrived today and setup ok, the lora32 board & case arrived a few days ago and they are both talking to each other (tested a couple of km away and all ok). Bit of a C*ck up .. thought I had a load of 1.5” masts but they are 1.25”, so will sort that out tomorrow. Yagi also arrived today so I will aim it and see what happens….. but as Dumfries is surrounded by hills I may have to look for some one that lives on a hill 1/2 way towards you and borrow their chimney, lol
Well done Dave. You do need toeave the repeater running it doesn’t magically pick every thing up right away. Try aim to mine first there is a new node laddo put up yesterday towards mull of gallow direction on the mountain there’s a few up on the hills over here to
Hi, guys. Finally caught up. MCC here also known as MeshCoreCumbria. Been getting some good results so far. Getting the framework setup (kinda) for long distance. Just need more on the ground repeaters now to fill in a lot of dead zones. All good fun though.
